Kunje (also Cunje ) is a village in Angola . The community is the birthplace of Isaías Samakuva , the current president of UNITA , the main opposition party in Angola.

history

The area was hotly contested in the Angolan civil war (1975-2002) and is not yet completely free of landmines .

Kunje is a municipality (Comuna) in the district ( Municipio ) of Kuito , in the province of Bié . The population was estimated at 30,000 in 2013, the current number is to be determined in the course of the 2014 census.
