Kuno Fischer

The Kuno Fischer Prize is a prize awarded by the Philosophical and Historical Faculty of the University of Heidelberg from the funds of the Kuno Fischer Prize Foundation for “outstanding works from the field of the history of philosophy that have appeared in German scientific literature are ", is awarded. The foundation was founded in 1904 by students and admirers of the Heidelberg philosopher and history of philosophy Kuno Fischer on the occasion of his 80th birthday with a start-up capital of 10,500 marks. The Grand Duke of Baden was one of the founders. It was to award the Kuno Fischer Prize of around 1,800 marks every five years. The award medal with a relief image of the scholar was created by the Karlsruhe artist Hermann Volz .

The prize is awarded at irregular intervals. In 2017 the price was 5100 euros. The award is determined by a jury from the Philosophical Seminar and the Philosophical Faculty of Heidelberg University.
