Kunstradio - radio art
Kunstradio - Radiokunst is a weekly radio broadcast on the ORF cultural channel Austria 1 and is broadcast on Sundays from May 23rd . On December 3rd, 1987 it went "on air" for the first time. It was founded by the curator, critic and journalist Heidi Grundmann .
The editorial team works closely with Austrian and international artists from the visual arts , literature, media art , music, performance art , net art , art institutions, festivals, museums, etc. The medium of radio is explored in its various forms (from medium wave and short wave to FM and 5.1 satellite radio to web radio , podcasts and wireless technologies) and becomes an object of artistic reflection, an instrument and communication space. The broadcasts often take place live on air and on line, and sometimes on site, i. H. with an audience present on site. Since 1995 there has been a website that serves as an announcement and documentation medium and represents one of the networked locations (“on air-on-line-on site”) in some projects . Most of the radio art works broadcast are produced especially for Kunstradio (since 2004 also in 5.1 format).
