As Kupferpecherz is called one by weathering mostly in the oxidation zone Resulting copper - ore .

Copper pecherz has a fine-grained to massive structure, has a pitch black color and consists primarily of the secondary minerals cuprite , tenorite (copper black ), azurite and malachite , as well as remains of covelline and chalcopyrite from which it emerged. Another weathering product is often limonite (brown iron ore), a mixture of goethite and lepidocrocite , part of copper pechers and sometimes also solid copper.
