Bad Rappenau health clinics
The Kur- und Klinikverwaltung Bad Rappenau GmbH is the umbrella company of a German clinic group for medical rehabilitation and prevention in Bad Rappenau , Heilbronn district . Inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, follow-up treatment, in-house prevention and medical wellness are carried out. Some of the spa facilities are located on the site of the former Bad Rappenau saltworks , where the spa was once founded by brine spas.
History of the saltwater spa
Discovery of the Rappenau salt warehouse
Since 1816, rich salt deposits had been discovered in the Neckar valley when drilling in the Württemberg and Hessian areas. For this reason, the grand ducal government of Baden issued a high premium for the discovery of rich brine in Baden territory as well. Georg Christian Heinrich Rosentritt , son of a saltworks inspector from the Palatinate region, came across salt deposits while drilling in Rappenau in 1822. The Baden government then built the Rappenau salt works in April 1823 . Rosentritt received the office of salt works administrator and managed the salt works until 1835. Today's Rosentritt Clinic is named after him.
From brine bath to health resort
Soon after the construction of the saline, efforts were made to establish a therapeutic application in addition to its industrial use, which was already established a year after its discovery. After the Karlsruhe architect Weinbrenner had created large salt works and administration buildings on the Schwärzberg in 1830, the first saltwater spa was built in 1833.
The bathhouse was financed for the most part by founding a stock association. Grand Duchess Sophie took over the protectorate of the Sophienbad, which opened on May 15, 1833. But as early as 1841 the bathing business had to be stopped due to financial difficulties. A state bath was then built on the saltworks in 1845, which closed its doors in 1903 due to poor hygiene. As a result, Rappenau received its new Sophie-Luisen-Bad in 1903, for which this time the Grand Duchess Luise was the godmother. The Sophie-Luisen-Bad remained in operation until 1966, two years later it was demolished.
Rappenau receives the rating "Bad"
As early as 1914, the Grand Ducal Railway Directorate gave the Rappenau station the name "Bad Rappenau". However, the official name remained Rappenau. It was not until September 4, 1930 that an application by the municipality was successful. The Baden State Ministry decreed that the place should be called " Bad Rappenau " with effect from October 1, 1930 .
The spa in the post-war period until today
Bad Rappenau experienced the end of the war undestroyed, but the spa operations could not be resumed until May 1, 1946. The early days were difficult due to the outdated facilities. However, the construction of a new spa center initially failed due to funding. Therefore, the first step was to opt for expansion and modernization measures.
The unanimous desire and the general trend, however, was to accommodate the spa patients in closed houses, each with its own bathing department. Numerous specialist clinics were built. The establishment of the spa and clinic administration in 1977 enabled the further upswing of the spa business. The adaptation of the range of therapies to the increased and constantly changing therapeutic requirements, such as the start of geriatric rehabilitation or cancer aftercare, make Bad Rappenau a modern health resort today .
Spa and clinic administration
The spa and clinic administration itself was created in 1977 through the merger of all local spa companies with direct or indirect municipal capital participation to form a management holding company. At that time, this was a unique form of organization in Baden-Württemberg. This created the prerequisites for flexible and market-oriented hospital development. Due to structural reform processes in 1996, the city administration and hospital management moved even closer together. In 2002 the rehab company repositioned itself. Today five facilities work together under the umbrella of the spa and clinic administration and form a competence center for medical rehabilitation and prevention.
The competence center includes:
- Rosentritt Clinic : Specialist clinic for rehabilitation in the fields of orthopedics, internal medicine and dermatology
- Salinen-Klinik : Specialist orthopedic rehabilitation clinic and certified pain clinic
- Sophie-Luisen-Klinik : Geriatric rehabilitation clinic
- Voice healing center: Specialist clinic for voice, speech, language and swallowing disorders
- Therapy center with rehabilitation and vitality studio
The competence center was one of the first rehabilitation facilities nationwide to introduce the quality management system (QMS Reha) created for rehabilitation by the German Federal Pension Insurance Association . The competence center is also a member of the Baden-Württemberg Rehabilitation and Health Quality Association .
