Saxon postal mileage column Bad Belzig
The listed Electoral Saxony Postmeilensäule in Bad Belzig belongs to the post mile column , on behalf of the Elector Frederick Augustus I of Saxony by the land and border commissioner Adam Friedrich Zürner in the first half of the 18th century in the Electorate of Saxony have been built. The distance column adorned with coat of arms is located on the corner of Bahnhofstrasse / Wittenberger Strasse in front of the Burgbräuhaus in the Brandenburg town of Bad Belzig in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district .
history
The column was erected in its current location in 1725, at the traffic junction in front of the city, in the then still independent village of Sandberg . Several traffic accidents occurred here. The distance column was knocked over by a horse and cart in 1926 and by a truck in 1933. In 1967 the column was completely restored by master stonemason Scholz and the sculptor Geist. On this occasion, the column below Eisenhardt Castle was moved , which has since been reversed. The coat of arms is a replica because the original disappeared after 1815. The original writing block (shaft) and the original pedestal are in the museum in Eisenhardt Castle.

The distance column consists of seven parts. The base, pedestal and the crown of the pedestal form the substructure. The superstructure consists of an intermediate plate, shaft, coat of arms and tip.
