Kurt Darren (actually Kurt Johan van Heerden , born February 19, 1970 in Pretoria ) is a South African musician and music producer . He sings primarily on Afrikaans hits and pop music , but also has an English-language music repertoire. Alongside Juanita du Plessis, he is considered to be the most successful Afrikaans-speaking musician.

As a child he attended school in his hometown of Pretoria before completing military service in Walvis Bay ( Namibia ). Darren has been playing in sold out arenas in South Africa and Namibia since 1995. He gave his biggest concert in front of 72,000 people as part of the Loftus for Jesus 2008 in Johannesburg .
