Kurt Jäckel (artist)

Kurt Jäckel (born May 1, 1883 in Frankfurt am Main , † 1966 in Wiesbaden ) was a German history and landscape painter, graphic artist, illustrator and wood cutter.

Education and artistic career

Jäckel studied at the Städel Art Institute in Frankfurt am Main and at the Kassel Art Academy . In Frankfurt he was a master student of Wilhelm Amandus Beer , through whom he got in touch with the Kronberg painter colony . He toured Italy, France, England and the Netherlands. Later he settled in Wiesbaden. Jäckel gained a certain fame through his late Expressionist woodcuts on the subject of "Revelation", which he made from 1917 to 1923 .
