When Kurt Lingens and his wife Ella were asked in the summer of 1942 by the Polish underground movement, with which they worked, to carry out the illegal transfer of two Jewish married couples of the brothers Jakob and Bernhard Goldstein, he took in a couple and found them for them others a suitable hiding place.
On October 13, 1942, Karl Motesiczky , Kurt Lingens and his wife Ella were arrested for providing financial aid to members of the Polish resistance movement and for distributing forged ID cards. Kurt Lingens was separated from his three year old son. Motesiczky and the Lingens were taken to the Gestapo headquarters in the former Hotel Metropol on Morzinplatz. Kurt Lingens was transferred to a criminal unit after a brief detention.
