Kurt Stürzenbecher (born May 2, 1958 in Wolfsberg ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). Since 1997 he has been a member of the Vienna State Parliament and a member of the Vienna City Council .

Kurt Stürzenbecher attended grammar school and passed the Matura at the higher boarding school of the Federal Graz - Liebenau . He then studied law at the University of Vienna and did his civil service in the documentation archive of the Austrian resistance . After completing his legal practice in Vienna, Stürzenbecher worked as a lawyer in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. Stürzenbecher has worked as the club secretary of the Social Democratic parliamentary group since 1988 and is primarily responsible for judicial policy.

Kurt Stürzenbecher was during his studies from 1981 to 1982 chairman of the Association of Socialist Students (VSStÖ) Vienna and from 1982 to 1983 federal chairman of the VSStÖ. Subsequently, he became involved in the district politics of Hernals , where he was chairman of the young generation between 1986 and 1992 and was elected to the district board in 1994. Between 1994 and 1997, Stürzenbecher was a district councilor in Hernals, before moving to the Vienna state parliament and local council in 1997. In the 18th legislative period, Stürzenbecher is a member of the committees “Integration, Women's Issues, Consumer Protection and Personnel”, “Finances, Economic Policy and Wiener Stadtwerke” and “Housing, Housing and Urban Renewal”, where he also chairs. He is also a member of the incompatibility committee. Since 2002 Stürzenbecher has also been Deputy Chairman of the SPÖ Hernals.

Sturzbecher is married and has one son.
