Kurupedion ( Greek Κούρου πεδίον " Kyros field") is the ancient name of a plain in Lydia north of Magnesia on the Sipylos , east of the mouth of the Hyllos in the Hermos (today Gediz ). In ancient times, two decisive battles for the Diadochin Empire were fought on this level . 281 BC Seleucus I. Nicator defeated his rival Lysimachus in the battle of Kurupedion . 190 BC The Roman consul Lucius Cornelius Scipio Asiaticus and his ally, King Eumenes II of Pergamon, defeated the Seleucid Antiochus III in the battle of Magnesia .
