Short turn

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The short turn is a dressage lesson in which the horse is turned 180 degrees.

It is a hindquarters turn in motion without stopping, from a central stride or a trot in stride. The horse kicks with its hind legs in as small a circle as possible, the center of which is very close to the inner hind leg. The front legs step sideways, crossing each other in a half circle. The rear legs should not cross each other (except for the last step at the side), but rather step in time in a tight circle, especially the inner leg; it must not simply be turned while in constant contact with the ground.
