The shortwave transmitter Udon Thani ( Thai : สถานี วิทยุ อุดรธานี ) is located in the district ( Amphoe ) Ban Dung in the province of Udon Thani . The transmitter is used as a relay station by the Voice of America (Thai: สถานี วิทยุ เสียง อเมริกา ). Radio Thailand has been using this shortwave transmitter with a transmission power of 500 kW since August 1994 .
