Radio Thailand is the state foreign radio broadcaster of the Kingdom of Thailand , based in Bangkok . Today Radio Thailand belongs to the NBT (National Broadcasting Services of Thailand) which also operates other radio stations and the TV station PRD-11 .

history

Foreign language broadcasts from Thailand have been around since October 20, 1938. At that time, broadcasts were initially in English and French , aimed at residents of the British and French colonies in the region. During the Second World War , the foreign service was expanded to include several Asian languages: first Burmese , Hindi , Japanese and Malay , later other languages ​​of the region were added. The program was expanded further in 1994. On June 4 of that year, the daily quarter-hour programs in German began . Transmitting systems in Bangkok and Bang Phun were initially used for shortwave transmissions . The Udon Thani shortwave transmitter has been operated with an output of 500 kW since August 1994 . This is also used as a relay station for Voice of America . The international service broadcasts in the Bangkok Metropolitan Region on VHF 97.0 MHz, as well as on medium wave 927 kHz, and the short waves 4830, 9655 and 11905 kHz.
