from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

RAE Argentina al Mundo ( formerly Radiodifusión Argentina al Exterior RAE; German : Argentinischer Rundfunk für Ausland ) is the state foreign radio broadcaster of Argentina .

history

RAE went on air on April 11, 1949 as Servicio Internacional de la República Argentina (SIRA) (German International Service of the Republic of Argentina ). The SIRA, which was founded on the initiative of the then President Juan Perón , broadcast a 24-hour program in various languages. After Perón was overthrown in a coup in 1955, the station was closed and three years later, on February 12, 1958, it resumed broadcasting under its current name. Under the military dictatorship from 1976 to 1983, Radiodifusión Argentina al Exterior continued to broadcast constantly. The editor of the German-language program Carl-Dieter Grede criticized the military junta subliminally in the program. Due to political pressure, he later left Argentina and wrote a book about his work ( How many times have I been killed, 1985) .

In 2016 the broadcaster "relaunched" its previous programs, which was accompanied by postponements in the program schedule. The shortwave broadcast towards Europe was reduced somewhat.

program

RAE is operated by the state broadcaster Radio Nacional (RNA). Programs are currently being broadcast in Spanish , German , French , English , Italian , Portuguese and Japanese . RAE can be received via the Internet and shortwave .

In its Spanish-language programming, it partially takes on broadcasts from the domestic services of its parent company RNA.

Channel

The transmitter is located in the village of General Pacheco in the province of Buenos Aires and can theoretically be operated with up to 100 kilowatts, but is only used with reduced transmission power due to its age. the facility was built in the early 1950s. The audio quality of the broadcasts is correspondingly poor. A modernization was supposed to take place since May 2012, but could not be implemented for financial reasons.
