The Kusaal (also Kusale , Kusasi and in Burkina Faso Koussassé ) is the language of the West African Kusaal people, which is spoken by around 420,000 speakers in Ghana (2004 SIL) including the 350,000 speakers of Agole and 70,000 speakers of Toende.

The language area is located in the northeast corner of Ghana in the Bawku District . Kusaal is spoken by around 17,000 people in Burkina Faso . The provinces of Nahouri and Boulgou and a few villages south of Zabré in the central south of the country are considered to be the distribution area.

The dialects are Agole (East Kusaal) and Toende (West Kusaal). Further investigations into the Kusaal group in Burkina Faso are still pending. Presumably there is a certain similarity to Agole (East Kusaal). Many speakers claim to understand the related languages Mòoré , Dagbani , Mampruli (language) and Farefare (Gurenne). Kusaal is part of the Mòoré-Dagbani group.
