Kusano Shinpei
Kusano Shinpei ( Japanese 草野 心 平 ; born May 12, 1903 in Kamiogawa , today: Iwaki , Fukushima Prefecture ; † November 12, 1988 ) was a Japanese poet.
Live and act
Kusano first traveled to China in 1921 and attended Lingnan University in Hong Kong . In 1928 he published his first volume of poetry. From 1940 to 1943 he was an advisor to Wang Ching-Wei's government in the Republic of China . During this time he wrote patriotic poems about Mount Fuji , in which he combined mythological themes with Pan-Asian thoughts.
His verses are designed dynamically and use everyday language patterns. Kusano is particularly known for his poems that describe human life and feelings from a frog's perspective. These can be found u. a. in “Authentic Reports on the Frog” (定本 蛙, Teihon kaeru), with which he won the first 1949 Yomiuri literary prize for poetry in 1949 .
In 1983 Kusano was honored as a person with special cultural merits (Bunka Kōrōsha), and in 1987 was awarded the Order of Culture .
