Kuseler autumn fair
The Kuseler Autumn Fair , one of the largest folk festivals in the Palatinate , takes place annually on the first weekend in September in the district town of Kusel . It was first held in 1924 and usually lasts five days. The official start is on Friday with the opening ceremony by the mayor and the enthronement of the Kuseline. By a firework the Kusel autumn fair takes place every Tuesday the conclusion.
In addition to some rides and a marquee, there are also many stalls along Trier Street where various consumer goods are offered. There is currently no information on the number of visitors.
Kuseline
Every year on the Friday of the fair, the newly elected Kuseline is presented, a representative female figure, comparable to a wine queen, chosen annually by a jury of local dignitaries . The choice of the first Kuseline was initiated in 1977 by the former deputy editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper Die Rheinpfalz , Paul Kaps, and the then head of the Rheinpfalz local editorial team, Kusel, Wolfdietrich Meder .

The election takes place every year two weeks before the Kuseler autumn fair in the tithe barn of Lichtenberg Castle. There, the applicants face a jury individually and provide the jurors with information about their profession, hobbies and the motivation to apply for the office of Kuseline. The jury is made up as follows: One representative each from the Kusel district , the Kusel community , the Kusel city, the Kreissparkasse, the Kusel interest group, the retail association, the tourist association, the Karlsberg brewery , the beverage company Simon, the aviation association and the Intercoiffure Voborsky and one or two representatives from the local editorial team. The reigning Kuseline not only sits on the jury, but also announces the name of her successor after the election.
Commencement
The start of the new Kuseline traditionally takes place on the first evening of the autumn fair. She is introduced into office by a senior editor of the daily newspaper "Die Rheinpfalz". Since 2007, the former cousins have met in the local Deutsches Haus . Afterwards they go together into the exhibition tent to be there for the enthronement.
In the course of one year of office, the Kuseline receives numerous presents from the sponsors involved in the election. This includes a sightseeing flight over the Kusel district, a trip to the twin town of Toucy, free styles at Intercoiffure Voborsky and much more. To this end, the incumbent Kuseline attends numerous appointments in and around the Kusel district. The first date after the enthronement is the parade on Saturdays at the Kuseler autumn fair. For the 30th anniversary of the Kuseline, some former cousins took part in the parade of the Kuseler fair.
