The Kuwayama ( Japanese 桑 山 氏 , Kuwayama-shi ) were a family of the Japanese sword nobility ( Buke ) from Kuwayma in Owari Province . The Kuwayama belonged to the smaller Tozama daimyo during the Edo period with an income of 30,000 koku .

genealogy

  • Shigeharu (重 晴; 1524–1606) served Toyotomi Hideyoshi . In 1585, with an income of 30,000 koku , he built a castle in the city of Wakayama in the province of Kii . In 1600 he was transferred to Yamato Fuse (大 和 布施).
    • The older branch, which resided in Shinjō (新 庄; Province of Yamato) with 16,000 koku from 1600, includes the following people. In 1682 the line lost its daimyo status.
      • Kazushige (一 重)
      • Kazuharu (一 晴; 1575–1604)
      • Kazunao (一直; 1578–1636)
      • Kazuharu (一 玄; 1611–1684)
      • Kazutada (一 尹; 1645–1683)
    • The younger branch resided in Gose from 1600 with 20,000 koku. The following daimyo ruled:
      • Motoharu (元 晴; 1563-1620)
      • Sadaharu (貞 晴; 1604–1629), after which the line became extinct.
