Reconstruction of the Kvalsundfæringer

The Kvalsund-Færinger is a rowing boat from the Viking Age .

The boat was found in 1920 together with the better-known Kvalsund boat in a moor near Kvalsund on the western Norwegian island of Nerlandsøya in the Fylke Møre og Romsdal .

The 7th century Færinger boat had a length of 9.55 m, a width of 1.5 m and was equipped with two pairs of oar cams and a rudder.

A reconstruction of the Kvalsundfæringer is on display in the Herøy Kystmuseum . In contrast to the original, this boat has three pairs of rowing cams.
