Kwame Gyekye

Kwame Gyekye (born November 10, 1939 , † April 13, 2019 in Accra ) was an important Ghanaian philosopher and thought leader in African philosophy .

Career

Gyekye initially completed his studies at the University of Ghana and later moved to Harvard University . At Harvard he was awarded a PhD in philosophy. Gyekye is Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at the University of Ghana, in Legon Accra, and Visiting Professor of Philosophy and African-American Studies at Temple University in London.
