Kyla Brox

Kyla Brox (born June 3, 1980 in Stockport , Greater Manchester , England ) is a British blues and soul singer and songwriter .

biography

Kylas father is the blues singer Victor Brox , her mother Annette Brox, which in the original production of the musical Jesus Christ Superstar the girl on fire ( maid by the fire played), while Victor as Caiaphas was there.

In 1992, Kayla first appeared on stage with her father at the age of 12. Soon afterwards she became a permanent member of her father's touring band, "Victor Brox Blues Train". Also there were Danny Blomeley on bass, like Kyla also only 13 years old, Kyla's 4 years older brother Sam and 19 year old Phil Considine on drums. Because of the young age of the members, the band was jokingly called the " child slavery band ".

Kyla and Danny formed a duo in 2001, which eventually became the Kyla Brox Band, consisting of Kyla Brox (vocals, flute), Marshall Gill (guitar), Tony Marshall (saxophone), Danny Blomeley (bass) and Phil Considine (drums ). After starting out in pubs and clubs in the north-west of England and having enjoyed success at festivals, they toured several times in Australia and the USA.

In 2008 Kyla Brox and Danny Blomeley married.

In 2019 she won the European Blues Award in the Azores.
