Kypselos (Athens)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Kypselos ( Greek  Κύψελος ), the father of Miltiades the Elder , came from a respected Athenian family who traced their roots back to Aiakos . Philaeus , son of Ajax the Great , is said to have been the first to settle in Athens. According to Herodotus , Kypselus is said to have been very wealthy and could afford his own four-horse carriage.

Possibly it is identical with the Archon eponymos of the year 597/96 BC. Chr.
