L'Àgora ( ˈlaɣoɾa , Spanish El Ágora ) is a multifunctional building in the Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias in Valencia , Spain . The building is used as a venue for various sporting and cultural events. Like most other buildings in the "City of Arts and Sciences", it was designed by the Valencian architect Santiago Calatrava and opened in November 2009 as the last building in the new district to date. When closed, the elliptical building is 70 meters high and on a total area of 4,811 m² it offers space for a maximum of 6,075 visitors, depending on the seating arrangement.

After its opening, the Àgora was the venue for the international tennis tournament Valencia Open , the Freestyle Burn Spanish Cup (2010) and numerous other events, such as B. Concerts, congresses, exhibitions, trade fairs and clubbing. During the Christmas season, the building was also used for an ice rink.

In the wake of the Spanish economic crisis, in which the Valencia region had to declare its insolvency, the Àgora was closed for several years in 2014.
