life and work

László Kürti was born in Hungary in 1973 and grew up there. At the Lajos Kossuth University (today Debrecen University ) in Debrecen , Hungary, he graduated in 1997 as an English-Hungarian technical translator. A year later he obtained a diploma in chemistry at the same university, where Sándor Antus supervised his work on the synthesis of benzofuranoid neolignans. In 2001, Kürti was awarded a Master of Science degree from the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri . The supervisor of the master's thesis in the field of organic chemistry - inter- and intramolecular [4 + 3] cycloadditions - was Michael Harmata . Then Kürti moved to the University of Pennsylvania , Philadelphia, PA, where he worked in the group of Amos B. Smith, III. worked on his dissertation on the synthesis of highly substituted indoles in natural product chemistry . In 2006, Kürti started her thesis Indole diterpenoid synthetic studies there. Part I. Optimization of the synthetic sequence leading to the eastern hemisphere subtarget of nodulisporic acids A, D, and F. Part II. Construction of the highly strained CDEF parent tetracycle of nodulisporic acids A doctorate . Between 2006 and 2010, Kürti conducted research at Harvard University in the working group of Nobel Prize winner Elias J. Corey .

Since September 2010 László Kürti has been Assistant Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas , Texas.

Publications

In addition to around 15 original publications, Kürti particularly stood out due to the books he wrote (with co-authors):
