The Léal Bluff (originally Cerro Léal , Léal Hill 'in Spanish ) is a 485 m high cliff in the southwestern part of Vega Island in the Antarctic Weddell Sea . It is 3 km inland from Cape Lamb .
Participants of an Argentine Antarctic expedition carried out from 1958 to 1959 named it in the erroneous assumption that it was a hill , after Jorge Edgard Léal (1921-2017), major and later brigadier general of the Argentine army , who in 1947 as deputy head of the Esperanza station was active. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee translated this designation into English in 1964 in an adapted form.
