Léopold Lafleurance

Léopold Jean Baptiste Lafleurance (born April 17, 1865 in Bordeaux , † August 4, 1953 in Saulxier ) was a French flautist and university teacher.

Lafleurance came to the Conservatoire de Paris to study piano at the age of twelve and received private flute lessons from Paul Taffanel . At the age of 13 he was already playing alongside his uncle as a flautist in the Société des Concerts orchestra , and later also in other orchestras. From 1888 he played substitute, from 1891 as a member of the orchestra of the Paris Opera (retired as piccolo flutist there in 1947 at the age of 81). From 1914 to 1919 he was a flute professor at the Conservatoire de Paris. His students included u. a. Joseph Rampal and René Le Roy .
