The Lónsöræfi are a landscape in southeast Iceland east of the city of Höfn .

The area is also called Stafafellsfjöll and the Jökulsá í Lóni flows through it. Many mountains in this area reach heights of over 1000 meters, for example Sauðhamarstindur (1319 m), Jökulgilstindar (1313 m) and the Hnappadalstindur (1210 m). From the north of Lónsöræfi you can see Snæfell , the highest mountain outside Vatnajökull at 1833 m .

The area has been under nature protection since 1977 . Even if this area is not as well known as Laugavegur or Skaftafell, there are also many hikers here.
