Löblich & Co. Kessel- und Apparatebau KG is the name of one of the oldest companies in Austria . Löblich & Co. has been a company specializing in coppersmiths and apparatus construction for eleven generations, with its headquarters in Vienna at Favoritner Gewerbering 1, in the 10th district of Favoriten, and today active in the heating technology and commercial kitchen technology sectors.

history

The company was founded on August 20, 1738 by Josef Krottenthaller in Vienna as a coppersmith. After his death, his wife Eva continued the business for 14 years. Then the 5 daughters inherited the forge, who hired Johann Georg Wolf as managing director, who finally took over the business on December 19, 1802. The son of his sister Katharina and the cellar master Ferdinand Löblich, Leopold Löblich (* 1795) took over the business on July 20, 1823 after the death of his uncle. Leopold Löblich was a master coppersmith from 1814 and worked in the company from June 23, 1810. The company is still owned by the descendants of the Löblich family.

The company experienced a major boom in the 19th century under the leadership of Franz Löblich (1827–1897), the second son of Leopold Löblich, and developed from a craft business to a manufacturer of copper dishes, heating and cooking appliances. At that time, production was relocated to Nussdorfer Straße 21 in 1860.

Since 1858, Löblich has been supplying copper dishes to the imperial court, which required tin-plated molds for the court confectioners and kitchens. Franz Löblich was finally appointed supplier to the Imperial and Royal Court in 1893 .

Under Leopold Löblich (III.), The son of Franz Löblich, board member of the KuK Reichsverband der Kupferschmiede, production was changed at the beginning of the 20th century and stainless steel production was introduced into large-scale kitchen technology and the production of catering equipment in Austria in the 1920s and 30s . The cause was initially the shortage of copper as a result of the First World War. As a result, the change in material that resulted from this emergency was used to advantage and the longevity of kettles was considerably increased thanks to the new stainless steel alloys introduced by Löblich.

Leopold Löblich (III.) Received support from his nephews Franz and Max after 1929. The cooking equipment and catering machines produced by Löblich found considerable international distribution for a small Austrian company in the period before the Second World War, for example the samovars for the Trans-Siberian Railway or the steam-powered coffee machine "Mustapha", which was awarded a gold medal at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937 .

During the Second World War, the company received orders from the Wehrmacht to equip kitchens and hospitals. Most of the company archive burned due to fighting in Vienna in 1945.

After the Second World War, the first gas boilers in Austria and water heaters were developed under KR Ing.Maximilian Leopold Löblich and the first wall-mounted gas heaters were also built. In the 1950s, Löblich shifted to the production of heating boilers for town gas , later natural gas , which became the most important business area until the 1970s. In the 1980s and 1990s, under the management of Adolf Löblich and Max Wolfgang Löblich, there was a gradual switch to sales partnerships, wholesaling and service activities.

Imports for large French and Italian heating manufacturers were taken over under Ing.Max W. Löblich . In the export of heating appliances, the reference projects range from neighboring Austria (Hungary, Slovenia) to Africa ( Algeria ). In the catering technology sector, a large number of large kitchens in hospitals and hotels (for example to Zambia , Egypt , Libya , Ceylon , Indonesia and the Philippines ) were exported under Ing.Adolf Löblich and Markus Seiller-Tarbuk . With their nephew Dr. Markus Seiller-Tarbuk has been the sixth generation of the entrepreneurial family in management since 1823.

In the course of a reorganization, partial closings of operations took place in 1999 and the business areas of heating technology and catering technology were concentrated, where large-scale kitchen projects, mainly in Africa, Southeast Asia and East Asia, supplement activities on the domestic market. In the domestic market, the company concentrates on the gas heating and commercial kitchen technology segments. A separate business area of the corporate group is property development with a focus on commercial properties. Many years of personal experience with the specific requirements for real estate for production, workshops, offices and warehouse operations served to build a new pillar, the development of commercial properties for warehouses and workshops in our own real estate company.
