Lösch (bell founder)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Lösch were a Franconian bell foundry family with workshops in Künzelsau-Morsbach , Crailsheim , Ansbach and Bayreuth-Sankt Georgen . Its activity from 1724 to 1823 produced at least 100 bells, some of which are still in use. In addition, they manufactured fire engines, fountain works and other cast products.

The son of a carpenter who immigrated from Aischgrund , Johann Leonhard Lösch, founded the red and bell foundry workshop in Morsbach in 1723. His eldest son Johann Ernst Lösch took over a workshop in Crailsheim in 1754, while the younger son Johann Georg Lösch followed in Morsbach and later his son Johann Ludwig. The Crailsheim family branch was able to expand its field of business to the entire margraviate of Ansbach and operated up to three foundries. For economic reasons, the brothers Johann Ludwig and Johann Friedrich Melchior Lösch and their nephew Johann Ludwig Reiner had to close in 1823 almost at the same time as the Morsbach parent company.
