The Löweneckschule is a primary and secondary school in Augsburg-Oberhausen . When the foundation stone was laid in 1904, it was initially given the name Schillerschule . After the incorporation of Lechhausen, due to the school of the same name in Blücherstrasse (later a new building on Schackstrasse), the name was changed to Schule an der Flurstrasse . It was not until 1932 that the school was named after City School Councilor Dr. Maximilian Löweneck (1866–1957) named.

history

The foundation stone for the school building was laid in 1904. As early as 1905, school operations could begin. The building was erected as a three-storey plastered structure that clearly towered above the surrounding suburban development. The building was designed and integrated into its surroundings by structuring the facade accordingly and installing wall recesses. In addition to the Baroque gables, the school has also had a clock tower since its construction . The entire building complex was then completed by 1911.

The building served as a military hospital both in the First and Second World Wars. Wounded soldiers were transported with the Augsburg local train up to Drentwettsteg and from there they were brought into the building.

In the last two years of the war, 1944 and 1945, the school building was badly hit. The reconstruction could only be completed in 1950. From 1963 to 1977 the state middle school (later renamed Reischlesche Wirtschaftsschule ) was located in part of the building .

School profile

The school consists of a primary school and a middle school (previously merged as the Hauptschule ). The primary school currently has 8 classes and also offers German remedial courses, German preparatory courses, close cooperation with KiTas , working groups, Islamic religious instruction in German ( ISU for short ), a day care center and homework supervision . The middle school, on the other hand, currently has 13 classes. German remedial courses, all-day classes , working groups and ISU are offered there. In addition, various educational offers, school social work , a crisis office and mediators are an integral part of the Löweneckschule.

For schoolchildren and parents whose mother tongue is not German, there are various additional funding opportunities, some of which are implemented in cooperation with other providers. These include German learning groups, special homework supervision and language support in kindergarten (preliminary course).

Awards

In 2003 the Löweneck elementary school achieved fifth place in the nationwide competition in the main school award for Germany's best schools for the submitted projects “German course and literacy course for Turkish women”, “Homework supervision for foreign students” and “Organization of interreligious church services”.
