Lübsche Vogtei in Travemünde
Detail: Renaissance portal with rococo door

The Lübsche Vogtei is an old brick gable house from 1551 in the Renaissance style in the old town center of Travemünde . It used to be the seat of the Lübeck bailiff , who spoke and administered the law, in the strategically important outer port of Travemünde. In the 19th century this was the seat of the trustee of the Travemünde office . In the 20th century the building served as a police station in Lübeck.

Today the renovated bailiwick is a privately used residential and commercial building at the beginning of the Travemünder front row. The ensemble is one of the oldest buildings in Travemünde from the time after the devastating city fire of 1522.

The Renaissance gabled house is two-story behind the two stepped gables in front of the gable roof. The larger main gable on the left emphasizes the street corner to Lorenzstrasse with the Lorenz Church behind it . The two-axis smaller gable to the right of this forms the corner to the open courtyard area of the property. In the main gable there are wooden hatches to the storage floors. A sandstone coat of arms from the 1600s is embedded in the brickwork above the portal, which is well worth seeing. The portal itself is profiled and the front door can be assigned to the Rococo . The side wing of the Lübeck Bailiwick on Lorenzstrasse was heavily reshaped by built-in garages and window openings.

From the interior, an originally two-flight rococo staircase with carved posts and openwork parapet from the 18th century has been preserved.

During the renovation up to 2007, ceiling paintings from the time the house was originally built around 1600 were discovered and preserved behind cladding from the time the house was used as a police station, including the imperial ceiling from 1623. In the outer wall there are high water marks showing the water levels the flood of 1625 and the Baltic storm flood of 1872 can be read.
