The Lünener housing and settlement mbH (LWSG) was born on February 23, 1939 (entry into the commercial register) as housing companies of the city Luenen founded. When LWSG was sold to RAG Immobilien AG in 1998 for EUR 33.23 million, the Friedensstr. 17 out of around 4,000 apartments in Lünen, Kamen and Brechte . The largest single inventory of the LWSG with 1179 apartments was in the Lüner district "In der Geist" ( Geistviertel ).

Under the umbrella of the parent company, LWSG remained one of nine independent housing companies, but had to contribute to the group result of RAG AG . In 2004 the 166 apartments in need of renovation in the Hirtenweg estate were sold to Janssen & Helbing GmbH in Dorsten. On January 1, 2007, another 350 apartments were sold to the Dutch Bouwfonds Real Estate.

With the conversion of RAG AG to Evonik Industries AG , RAG Immobilien AG became Evonik Wohnen GmbH. All housing associations were brought together under this roof and the LWSG has since then only been run as a shareholding and portfolio holder (“legal unit”) without its own legal authority. The office became the Lünen customer center of Evonik Wohnen GmbH. With the merger of Evonik Wohnen GmbH and THS GmbH to form Vivawest GmbH , it became one of Vivawest Wohnen GmbH's fourteen customer centers.

The LWSG is registered under HRB 17104 in the commercial register at the Dortmund District Court. In practice, however, it is only visible under “Participations” in Vivawest GmbH's annual report.
