The locomotives with track numbers 84 to 86 were superheated steam locomotives from the Munich-based railway company Localbahn AG (LAG). These locomotives were almost identical to the vehicles of the 98.10 series , but had a larger coupling wheel diameter and a significantly higher top speed of 60 km / h instead of 45 km / h.
Locomotives No. 84 and 85 were delivered in 1935 and stationed in Oberstdorf , No. 86 followed in 1936 and came to Füssen .
The three locomotives were taken over by the Reichsbahn together with the LAG on August 1, 1938 and run as the 98.17 series . After the Second World War they became part of the Deutsche Bundesbahn . They were last stationed in Kempten and were used until 1961.
