The LBV Center for Man and Nature is an environmental station recognized by the Bavarian Ministry of the Environment. The center is operated by the Cham district group of the State Association for Bird Protection , which has around 70,000 members across Bavaria. The branch manager is Markus Schmidberger. The environmental station is based in Nößwartling in the municipality of Arnschwang in the district of Cham . The center serves as a contact point for practical and scientific nature conservation and environmental education . It also has a transnational character. Events with the neighboring Czech Republic are held here on a regular basis.

The University of Regensburg , the Regensburg Water Management Office, teacher training in Dillingen and the Bavarian Nature Conservation Academy in Laufen are partners of the center. A program is also offered to holiday guests and visitors. The center attaches particular importance to regenerative energy sources. In this environmental station, energy is used exclusively from renewable and regenerative sources, these are wood, water and sun. Neither oil, natural gas nor coal is burned. The main source of energy is an undershot Zuppinger water wheel . This has a diameter of 6.5 m and achieves an output of up to 30 kilowatts. The energy obtained is first fed into the in-house power grid. The surplus energy is passed on to the public power grid.
