LFI-PUR

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

LFI-PUR means long-fiber-injection (long-fiber injection) for polyurethane . LFI-PUR is a process for the production of fiber-reinforced plastic components that was developed by KraussMaffei Technologies GmbH and was first presented in 1995.

Glass fibers serve as reinforcement fibers . The glass fiber is cut in the process, wetted with the liquid polyurethane in a special mixing head and fed into an open tool. The PUR fiber mixture introduced is then pressed into a molded part under pressure in the tool.

Typical applications for the LFI process are large-area structural components. For example, it is used in the manufacture of tractor hoods and other trim parts in the commercial vehicle sector.
