LM-33 ( Russian ЛМ-33 ) is the name of a tram vehicle built by the Wagonoremontny Sawod in Leningrad (WARS, today Peterburgski Tramwajno-Mechanitscheski Sawod, Saint Petersburg , Russia ) . The abbreviation LM means L eningradski M otorny ( Russian Ленинградский Моторный , German Leningrad railcars), the number 33 corresponds to the developing 1933. Usually drove the railcar in pair LP-33 - a sidecar , the non-driven variant of the LM-33. The letter P stands for Prizepnoi ( Russian прицепной , German sidecar). The mini-trains made up of LM-33 multiple units and LP-33 side cars were often referred to as LM / LP-33 . Both instinctual and sidecar were mover carriage , they only operated on lines with turning loops or triangles on the route ends. Originally, the model designations were MA (Motorny Amerikanskogo tipa, Russian Моторный Американского типа , railcars American type) for traction and PA (Prizepnoj Amerikanskogo tipa, ПА - Прицепной Американского типа) for sidecar, because American vehicles of Peter Witt Company -Herstellers were taken as a pattern for development. As a result of this fact, the car had the unofficial nickname "American" (Russian Американка).
An LM / LP-33 train with the inventory numbers 4275 + 4454 has survived to this day in Saint Petersburg without any major changes to the substance. It is an exhibit of the St. Petersburg Tram Museum and was made roadworthy again in November 1997. The museum train in Saint Petersburg can be rented for sightseeing tours, weddings, proms or company parties.
