The Scharnstein airfield near Gmunden is a civil public sports airfield in the Upper Austrian Traunviertel . It is located about one kilometer west of Scharnstein next to Scharnsteiner Strasse . The airfield is operated by the ASKÖ Flugsportverein Linz .
The airfield has a grass runway. In the hangar - in pairs, one on top of the other - 4 gliders and motor gliders can be accommodated.
history
- Around 1981 the aerial photography company aircolor , Bregenz temporarily stationed one of the then 4 helicopters flying in Austria for the company.
- In 2002 and a few more years, the bald ibis team tried to use ultralight aircraft to train the bald ibis to fly and pull with the aim of reintroducing them to the wild .
- From June 2009 to October 3, 2010, a FlyMed rescue helicopter had its departure base in Scharnstein.
- The Martin 3 rescue helicopter from Heli Austria has been stationed here since October 21, 2017 ; it previously flew around 200 missions from Wels airfield since around July .
