life and work
Carolina Fernández originally started her career as a flamenco dancer, but her talent for singing was quickly discovered. Since 2011 she has been regularly on Spanish stages and concert halls - alone or with well-known colleagues such as Canelita , Rancapino or members of the Vargas family. In 2014 she received a scholarship from the Diputación de Badajoz to study Flamenco at the Fundación Cristina Heeren de Arte in Seville. Her stage name La Chispa (German: Funke ) she received from flamenco master Antonio Caballero . He sees in her “a new, radiant spark of flamenco”. She has been compared several times to her more famous colleagues Niña Pastori , Marina Heredia and Mayte Martín .
The singer is particularly fond of performing tangos and bulerías . The latter are exuberant, the rhythm is rapid and are considered to be happy dance music for parties.
In 2017 she made a guest appearance at the Radiokulturhaus in Vienna. She received several awards.
