La Cigale

La Cigale is a concert hall in the Pigalle district in the 18th arrondissement in Paris . The hall offers space for 954 seated or 1389 standing spectators.

history

At 120, Boulevard de Rochechouart, there was once the small theater Boule Noire . After its demolition, the new theater was opened in 1887. It established itself as a revue stage, later operettas and vaudeville performances were added.

In the 1940s the hall was rededicated as a cinema. In 1981 the theater was declared a monument historique . In 1987 the hall began to be used regularly for concerts.

A variety of well-known musicians have performed at the Cigale, including: Adele , Red Hot Chili Peppers , Bonnie Tyler , Oasis , Blur , Prince , Jeff Beck , Coldplay , Kylie Minogue etc.
