La Coronilla is a seaside resort in Uruguay .

geography

location

It is located in the 5th sector of the Rocha Department in southeast Uruguay. La Coronilla is located about 314 km from the capital Montevideo on the Atlantic coast. 25 km northeast is the Brazilian-Uruguayan border near the city of Chuy . A few kilometers south is Punta del Diablo . In front of the coast of La Coronilla are the Islas de La Coronilla , a small group of islands.

Natural resources

Salt , magnesia , potassium sulfate and gypsum are stored at La Coronilla .

history

On November 13, 1951, La Coronilla was classified as " pueblo " by law no. 11,763 .

Infrastructure

To the west, Ruta 9 leads past La Coronilla in a north-south direction , which meets Ruta 14 to the south of the village .

Residents

The population of the 2011 census was 510, of which 255 were men and 255 were women. However, the number of residents fluctuates depending on the season.
