The shale pseudodolmen

La Roche du Feu is a pseudodolmen in the nature reserve of the same name on a mountain of the Montagnes Noires ( German  "Black Mountains" ) south of Gouézec in the Finistère department in Brittany in France . The highest point of the Montagnes Noires lies at 281 meters and offers a view of the Vallée de l'Aulne (valley), the Monts d'Arrée and the Bay of Douarnenez .

During the Viking invasions , guards stood here and on the 330 m high Ménez-Hom , warning the residents with fires that could be seen throughout the Châteaulin basin. The place was therefore called ( Breton Karreg an Tan - German  Feuerberg - French Roche du Feu ).
