La Vanguardia (Uruguay)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

La Vanguardia was a Spanish-language Uruguayan newspaper.

The Afro-Uruguayan newspaper represented a militant racial position that had not been widespread in Uruguay in this form since the 1870s, represented there by La Conservación and El Progresista . Founded on January 15, 1928, it was edited by Salvador Betervide and Isabelino José Gares . Other employees included C. Cardozo Ferreira, Julián Acosta, Cecilio Díaz and Vito Pereyra Pérez. Its publication period in 1928 and 1929 only extended over a little over a year. Due to financial problems, it was discontinued in March 1929.
