David Allen Zubik (born September 4, 1949 in Sewickley , Pennsylvania ) is an American clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Pittsburgh .

Life

Zubik grew up in Ambridge and attended school here before entering the seminary . He studied Catholic theology at Duquesne University and Saint Mary's Seminary in Baltimore . On 3 May 1975 he was Bishop Vincent Leonard Martin for priests of the Diocese of Pittsburgh ordained . After various pastoral activities and further studies, he became secretary and ceremonial to Bishops Anthony Joseph Bevilacqua and Donald William Wuerl .

From 1991 Zubik was responsible for the deployment of the clergy in the Diocese of Pittsburgh and in 1996 became Vicar General .

Pope John Paul II named Zubik Titular Bishop of Jamestown and Auxiliary Bishop of Pittsburgh on February 18, 1997 . He received his episcopal ordination on April 6, 1997 from Bishop Donald Wuerl. Co- consecrators were Bishops Nicholas Carmen Dattilo of Harrisburg and Thomas Joseph Tobin of Youngstown .

On October 10, 2003, Zubik was named bishop of Green Bay . Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Pittsburgh on July 18, 2007.
