Location of Laase in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district

Laase is a district of the municipality of Langendorf in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district in Lower Saxony . On July 1, 1972, the previously independent municipality, which also included the villages of Grippel and Pretzetze , was incorporated into the municipality of Langendorf. The place is on the west bank of the Elbe. In 2008, the cultivation of genetically modified maize by the seed company Monsanto led to strong protests. Genetically modified plants have not been grown in Laase or in the entire Langendorf community since 2009. The road through the village has regularly been the scene of transports to the Gorleben nuclear waste storage facility since 1995 .
