Cromlech from Lacam de la Rigalderie

The cromlechs ( stone circle ) of Lacam de la Rigalderie (or cromlech of Lacam Mercoulines) is 2.5 kilometers northwest of Blandas , on the Causse de Blandas , a nature reserve in the department of Gard in the region Occitan in southern France . The 30 stones form a circle about 90.0 m in diameter, a size rarely achieved in France . The complex probably dates from the Bronze Age .

The irregularly shaped stones of the circle are between 0.8 and 1.8 m high and mostly made of limestone . There was apparently a small menhir in the middle . It is one of only three better preserved megalithic structures of this type in the Gard. The other two are the Lacam de Peyrarines (30 stones) and one of the stone circles of Lacam de Rogues . The name Lacam comes from the Occitan language, means "rest" and describes a desert or a boggy area.

Another stone circle lies in the southwest, is much smaller and largely destroyed.
