Have a laugh!
Have a laugh! is a volume with "ole un nige funny stories" by Fritz Wischer , which was first published in 1918. The Low German stories were published in numerous editions until the 1980s by the first publishing house Lühr & Dircks. Most recently, Quickborn-Verlag reissued the volume with the subtitle "Funny Vertellen".

The collection of anecdotal stories was a huge success. After its first publication, new editions were printed regularly. In 1936 the 21st to 23rd thousandth copies of the work were sold. Thereafter there was at least one new edition in almost every decade. The book has long been considered a classic in recent Low German entertainment literature. In the foreword of the first edition, the poet emphasized that the good Low German humor never laughs at people, but only with them, in the Low German wording: "De gode nedderdütsche humor laughs ni över dat people, noe with dat people."

Else Dircks provided four stories with drawings: Warüm de Nachwävhter Detl Bock ni more tuten de , Hein Lammers and the Kaiserliche Werft , Kaptein Krüzmann sin Pentecost and Von den Grotknech Krischan in Totendbod .
criticism
In the "Mitteilungen aus dem Quickborn" (Volume 12, page 57/58), the reviewer Emil Pörksen says, among other things:
- ... What it offers in this little book is suitable to give even the greatest curmudgeon a happy hour ..... But almost more valuable than the content is the language, which can be called exemplary and can arouse understanding for Low German literature. ...
Adaptations
Selections from the book also appeared successfully as audio books, read by Wilhelm Wieben as well as Edgar Bessen . Stories from the volume were also part of the reading repertoire of other Low German narrators, especially in the Kiel area, where most of the vertices from the volume are located. B. Walter Volbehr.
