Coordinates: 33 ° 3 ′ S , 147 ° 9 ′ E Lachlan Shire is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area is 14,964.3 km² and has about 6,200 inhabitants.
Lachlan is located in the center of the state in the Central West region about 460 km west of the metropolis Sydney and 300 km northwest of the Australian capital Canberra . The area comprises 77 hamlets and hamlets, including Albert, Burcher, Burgooney, Condobolin, Fairholme, Fifield, Lake Cargelligo, Tottenham, Tullibigeal and parts of Derriwong and Tullamore. The headquarters of the Shire Council is in Condobolin in the center of the LGA, where about 2,900 residents live.

The Lachlan Shire Council has 15 members who are elected by the residents of the five wards (three councilors each from Wards A to E). These five districts are defined independently of the localities. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
