Ark (Turkey)
The small island of Lade was in ancient times near the coast of Asia Minor in the west of Miletus at a distance of 5 km. There was also the tomb of a mythical king of Miletus, Asterios , son of Anax, which is why they were also called Asterios . Here took place in 494 BC The battle of ark took place. 412 BC The Athenians camped here in the run-up to the Battle of Miletus .
Due to the deposits of the Meander River , the island is now in the fertile Meander Plain and is therefore the Turkish mainland. It rises out of the floodplain, still easily recognizable today.
