The Ladies Buttresses ( Panieńskie Skaly in Polish , Girls Rock ) are rocky outcrops on King George Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . They tower west of Urbanek Crag on the north bank of Ezcurra Fjord .
Polish scientists named them in 1980 in honor of the female participants in the Polish Antarctic expeditions carried out from 1977 to 1978 and from 1978 to 1979.
